A lot of people love dogs and we see many of them giving the best care for their pets. However, not all dog lovers know how to properly care for dogs and end up neglecting or abusing them. It’s not uncommon to find people who refuse to give up on their dogs even when their dogs look horrible and in desperate need of help.
A dog rescuer named Lisa Chiarelli heard about several dogs chained-up inside a property. Lisa didn’t waste any time and went to the property to investigate and found that dogs were living in appalling conditions. Although Lisa was shocked, she maintained her composure and talked to the owner with respect and kindness.
One of the dogs was named Mama Lucky and she had a heavy chain on her neck and tied to a tree. Mama Lucky was severely underweight and she also had puppies that were in a cage in the garage. Lisa assessed the man and found that the man was too proud to ask for help in caring for the dogs.
Lisa was able to talk some sense into the man and was able to convince him that it would definitely be better if he surrendered the puppies to her to get better care and better homes for them. Thankfully, the man agreed and surrendered the puppies. When Lisa asked about Mama Lucky, the man looked Lisa straight in the eye and told her that she wasn’t going to get Mama Lucky.
Instead of being rude, Lisa decided to respond with compassion. Lisa offered the man some beds and blankets for Mama Lucky and she even asked the man if he could release Mama Lucky from her heavy chains, which were clearly weighing down her already fragile body. To Lisa’s surprise, the man had a change of heart and just asked Lisa to open her car door.
As soon as Lisa opened her car door, the man offered Lisa to take Mama Lucky. The man was surrendering Mama Lucky to the rescuers and he learned that his dogs would have a better chance of getting the life that they deserved if he surrendered them. Lisa figured that it pays to be kind and that it would have been a very different outcome if Lisa was rude or condescending.
Although the man didn’t ask for money during the rescue, Lisa still gave the man $40 and advised the man that there’s nothing wrong to ask for help especially when we’re having difficulties with our lives. In the end, all the puppies were adopted into loving forever homes and Mama Lucky recovered and adopted by a loving family.
