As a dog owner, finding out that your dog is gone can be very disheartening. It’s a scary situation, especially if you have spent hours or days searching for your dog and you couldn’t find him or her. But what if your dog ran away and you never even know it happened?
This is what happened with a one-year-old dog in Odessa, Texas, who ran away from home in the wee hours of the morning. When his owner woke up later that day, he never even knew the dog was gone until a relative told him. Apparently, the dog has become an online sensation for his shenanigans.
Missing
Chico is a Husky and German Shepherd Mix that quickly became viral after he escaped from his yard. His owner, Edward Alvarado, said that the dog was able to chew a part of the fence and escape from a hole he made. Then apparently, the dog took a stroll, which led him to the Odessa Police Station a mile away from their house.
Officers on duty that night were surprised when they saw the friendly dog walked in on their department. Chico then went to the front desk and stood on his hid legs, resting his front paws on a desk. They took a picture of the happy fellow and posted it on their social media page.
The post jokingly said that they thought that the dog was applying for a position on their K9 unit. They also said that Chico was given lots of love and attention but left soon after. The dog let himself out, and they even tried looking for him. But their surprise guest seemed to have vanished already.
One of Edward’s nephews saw the post and called him to confirm if it was indeed Chico. The befuddled owner said yes and went out to check on his dog. When he got to the yard, he saw that his dog was there already. The whole situation seemed amusing for Edward, and he said that he was relieved that his dog knew where to go and how to come back home.
