It shows the moment a dog mom was reunited with her puppies after her owner surrendered her to a shelter after she just gave birth. Be ready with your tissues; this one is going to tug your heartstrings.
Reunited
A female Chihuahua was given up by her owner, along with another adult male dog to the Marin Humane Society in Novato, California. When the staff examined the dog mom, they discovered that she had just very recently given birth. So recent that the puppies still likely need their mother to survive.
After doing some investigation, they were able to find the dog’s owners, and they decided to talk to them. The shelter staff persuaded them to surrender the puppies as well. Being so young, it was for the pups to be nursed by their mother.
But aside from that, the dog mom, which they named Cora, showed signs of depression. Ever since Cora was torn away from her babies and forcibly dumped into the shelter, she became a recluse. She would stay in one corner of her kennel and would not budge.
Then, several days after, the emotional reunion happened. The shelter was able to get the pups, and they brought them to their mother’s kennel. They were all inside a dog carrier, and one of the staff took them out one by one. There were four pups, three males and one female.
Cora was then on her usual corner, sitting by herself. But when she heard one of the pups yipping, she turned around to see what it was. Seeing her pups, she rushed to them excitedly. She started wagging her tail and ran all over the place. She would even check inside the carrier to see if there was more.
The change in her demeanor was very evident. She was thrilled to be with her pups again. To show her gratitude, she went to the staff and nestled her head on her lap. Her puppies nursed while she was doing this.
The puppies were very happy, too, when they saw their mom again. They jumped on her and kissed her. It was a sight that would no doubt make a grown man cry.
