Many times, we don’t realize that a simple act of kindness can become quite an inspiration to others. A small gesture can really have a huge impact. All these actions make the world a better place to live in.
One particular case is the act of a traffic cop in India who bravely faced speeding traffic so that a stray dog can safely cross the road. Thankfully, someone saw what he intended to do and started recording him.
His video has gone viral, and thousands of people hailed his actions. Many people even said that the kind man has inspired them.
A clear path
India is one of the countries that has the most number of homeless dogs. Their streets are full of strays competing with each other to survive. They continually move from one place to another to find food. This includes having to cross busy streets.
One day, a stray pup was on the side of the road and was looking left and right. He was watching the cars speed by, waiting for the moment he can get a clear path to the other side. A traffic cop saw him and realized what the dog was planning to do.
He has worked on the streets for so long already that he has seen this situation numerous times. And all too often, the end result is tragic.
Stop
The cop goes next to the dog and tells him to wait. Amazingly, the dog seemed to understand him. He sat there motionless.
The concerned traffic officer then signaled the speeding cars and motorbikes to stop, but no one seemed to mind him. They just kept on going.
Determined to help the dog, the man waited for the traffic to grow thin, then he slowly walked to the middle of the road with his open palm raised high. He signaled the vehicles to stop, and they finally obeyed.
The officer then turned to the dog and told him to cross. Seeing that the coast was clear, the stray started moving. In less than a minute, he was safely on the other side. The traffic then resumes.
To some people, it may seem nothing. It was just another traffic officer doing his job. But to many others, it was a clear sign that he was a compassionate man who helped a creature that needed him.
